'Mary Had a Little Lamb' Translated into Arabic

Mary had a little lamb,
little lamb, little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb,
whose fleece was white as snow.

And everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, Mary went,
and everywhere that Mary went,
the lamb was sure to go.

$15 gift cetificate giveaway!

In celebration of my new Featured Zibbeter article, I'm going to give a $15 gift certificate to one of my lucky blog followers.

Here is how you get the prize:

1. Follow my blog. Super duper easy as tuffaha pie. Just click on the follow button in the lower right hand side.
2. Leave a comment on this blog post so I know that you follow my blog. You can say hi, leave your pet's name or rant about that neighbor who won't return your saw. Doesn't matter, I just need you to leave a comment so I know you’d like to get $15 randomly.
3. I will pick a comment using random.org.
4. You will get $15 to use in my Zibbet shop.
5. You do the happy Tabbouleh dance, (this is optional).

I'll pick someone on June 30th. In the meantime enjoy these beautiful flowers that just bloomed in my garden. And yes, they smell as good as they look.

PIFs in my shop

I'm part of a community of Zibbet sellers that are selling items for only $1 with free shipping. If you are not a Zibbet Seller: PIF or "pay it forward" is a random act of kindness where the recipient instead of doing a good deed to the person who "deeded" them, passes the kind gesture onto someone else. I currently have several PIFs in my shop. You should check them out and feel free to buy them!

Punk Rock Flea Market 2011

This is my third year vending at the Punk Rock Flea Market and it just keeps getting better and better. This year started with an email from the PRFM awesomest organizer, Josh Okrent, who does such a great job getting everyone taken care of for the event. I applied right away since this is one of my favorite shows of the year. To help keep table fees down, and have someone watch your stuff when you go to the bathroom, I again asked around for a table mate. I was fortunete enough to find Lori who makes jewelry, knits and prints. Her work was really gorgeous and very high quality.

It turned out to be a beautiful day with blue skies and a high in the mid 70s, which is shocking considering that it's been wet and miserable all week long. The first year I vended, I was inside right next to the stairs, but the last two years, I’ve asked to be outside. I don’t own a canopy and always take my chances that there will be no rain for the day.

I had friends visit: Roz with her doggie that smelled good from an earlier bath, my brother from a different mother, Sean came with his friend Casey, who brought me my favorite soap and Rebecca came by with her family and shared some good sounding laughs over cards. Oh, there was music too! Tuba players with a Russian band, a sweet sounding mbira player that wandered the aisles and bluegrass ballads from a soulful banjo. And what PRFM isn't complete without the smells of food? We had ice cream, Kimchee, rice and beans, hot dogs, cupcakes and hamburgers to temp our taste buds.

What a sweet way to start (to me) the first official craft show of the season. Hope you can come out next year!

Flower SWAPs

My daughter is in Brownie Girl Scouts and recently they created SWAPs for their annual Encampment. SWAPs are Special Whatchamacallits Affectionally Pinned Somewhere that are traded during camp.

Last year we rented a button machine and they coloured buttons that I then made at home and they handed those out. This year, since they were a year old, we made these flower SWAPs that was a bit more hands on. I thought it might be fun to share how we made them so you can also try to make your own!

You will need:
1 1/2 inch Ribbon
Ruler
Scissors
Safety Pins

The ribbon you get has to have wires on both sides and is readily available at any craft store:

Cut the ribbon to 8 1/2 inches long.

Cut the ribbon length-wise.

Cut a tiny bit of the fabric on the end with the scissors.

The reason you cut a tiny bit of the fabric off is that it's easier to grab the wires on the end. While holding both ends of the wire, gather the ribbon to the center.

Place both wires through opening in the back loop of a safety pin. and pull till the fabric is all the way up the safety pin.

Twist the wire around the loop (sorry this is a bit blurry, it's a new camera and I'm still trying to figure it out :).

Now you are all done to pin your SWAP on your clothing or to trade with others!
